A couple of weeks ago, I got to meet one of the first women to work offshore in our industry. She worked all over the North Sea and Irish Sea (and tons of other challenging environments around the globe). Patricia Thomson flew all the way in from Scotland to meet with us in South Texas (she also went to Houston to meet with other PP members). We just couldn't believe she did that. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed meeting her - so full of energy and spunk, awesome stories, terrifying HUET training stories, humble, and so so inspiring! She heard about our WEN South Texas group from Rebecca Ponton who was interviewing her for her book on women in the oil field. What an amazing opportunity to meet her - we were all just so inspired! For our friends Clare McNamara and other in the UK - you got to meet her!!
Patricia, thank you so much! I really do hope that you will take up posting. There are some many women on Pink Petro that would love to hear about your adventures, seek your advice. You are just a treasure to us! I can't wait until I get to go to the UK again because I want to come visit you and we will have to check out where SubSea used to be in Aberdeen (all I remember was that foul smelling fish meal plant it was downwind of Dresser's ROV and diving division).
