Being a consultant in the Energy space you can imagine the questions I get; "how does everyone else do it," how do I compare to my peers?" But by far the most interesting questions are why are Energy companies different from any other industry? Why is it so hard for us to work in a low price environment? Based on my experience I believe some of the reason is the lack of cross-functional collaboration and the lack of understanding of how decisions in one area of the business positively or negatively affect another. But I'd like to get the perspective of others. Why is Energy different? What prevents us from being nimble when we are fully aware of the cyclical nature of the industry? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
