The OTC (Offshore Technology Conference) has empowered the Junior Achievement with the honor to award (8) - $10,000 scholarships to qualifying high school seniors.  JA wants to help individuals who desire to pursue an education related to offshore technology, but are challenged to do so due to the economic downturn in the industry.

Applicants must complete and submit their application to Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas on or before the deadline (October 7, 2016).  The application and details pertaining to the scholarships may be found at www.jahouston.org .  Simply click on the Scholarships link on the left of the page.  Scholarship winners will be selected on or before November 1, 2016.

Criteria for application:

·         Student must be a high school senior

·         Plan to seek further education in order to secure a job in the offshore industry

·         Education plans have been challenged due to financial issues caused by the downturn in the industry

All scholarships will be paid directly to the school in the name of the awardee upon proof of admission.  This opportunity is being made available for students who are seeking education beyond high school, including certifications, two-year, or four-year degrees.  Normally, JA seeks applicants and awards scholarships at the end of a student’s senior year.  However, in this case, we want to be able to positively assist qualified students early enough that it could enable them time to pursue acceptance to the school of their choice.
