What does a parking lot have to do with distractions? Watch this video and find out!
Thanks for sharing; this is one of my favorite tools to use (you should see all the post its around my desk)! Using post its you can also easily prioritize the actions by putting the most urgent at the top, and then the rest underneath in decending order of urgency. And it feels good to crumple it up when you get the task accomplished!
But the best part about this tool is it is also good to facilitate a meeting that seems to be going nowhere. Have an agenda and if you find the conversation straying elsewhere then put the topic in a parking lot. Then everyone can turn their attention back to the agenda topic.
I love visiting Kara’s office. It’s so visual (in a good way)!
For those who love their Post-its consider a system “personal kanban” (manage your workflow like that of a manufacturing shop). It can work quite well!
Great resouce! Thanks!!!!
Love using the parking lot for meetings!!! Also, I use it during client appointments. We'll set the agenda at the beginning - then whenever another topic comes up - we'll decide if we want to switch topics, or put it in the parking lot for later! Thanks for commenting!!!
